DESCRIPTION

David Vinckbooks- (Dutch baptized 1576-1632) Signed lower right, oil on oak panel.Titled “Le Goute Espagnol” in an engraving after Vinckboons by Willen de Broen (1705-1748).Vinckboons was one of the most popular painters of the Dutch Golden Age. He was inspired by Pieter Brueghel the Elder and instrumental in the development of genre painting in the Netherlands. His paintings of fashionably attired groups entertaining themselves by eating, drinking, and flirting directly influenced later artists.A humorous Tavern Interior with a young man whose pocket is being picked by a child while he is distracted by the food and drink offered by a young woman and her father. The overall size is 27 x 29 in. wide and the sight size is 18 1/8 x 20 1/4 in. wide.
